Frog King 蛙王郭 (b. 1947)


Born 1947 in Mainland China, Kwok Man Ho, alias “Frog King”, received his art training at the Fine Art Grantham College of Education Hong Kong (1967-1970), and furthered his studies in the extramural courses of the Chinese University and the University of Hong Kong (1968-1973). He also pursued overseas studies at the Art Students League of New York (1980-1984). One of the first Hong Kong artists to employ the language of western contemporary art in the 1970s, Frog King works on a broad spectrum of artistic projects, from photo-collage, installation, happening environment arts, conceptual art to ready-made objects. A pioneer in performance in the Chinese world, Frog King was recently featured in Made in Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Museum of Art (2008) and has produced numerous performances, sculptures, paintings and installations in over 3,000 art events all over the world since 1967.
